SWIMMING

ASLC is an Affiliate Member of the Lifesaving Society and offers a comprehensive swim program that not only fosters physical fitness but also promotes water safety awareness, ensuring a summer season filled with aquatic adventures and lifelong memories.  From Parent & Tot to advanced lifesaving; from water fun to specialty swimming courses and adult fitness – there is something for every age!

  • The Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life® program is a 6-level program for children aged 5 and up. Children learn to swim, be fit, and stay safe in a fun environment that promotes achieving a personal best and celebrates personal success. There is also a Pre-School Swim program for children aged 3 to 5.

  • The Lifesaving Society’s three-level Canadian Swim Patrol program (Rookie, Star and Ranger) is a three-level course and the continuation of the Swim for Life® Program for those who have completed Swimmer Levels 1 through 6.

  • Lifesaving Society Bronze Star, Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion and Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross courses teach an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the 4 components of water-rescue education - judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Please note that taking (and passing) Emergency First Aid is a pre-requisite (which means you have to complete the First Aid successfully before you complete the Bronze course).

  • Parent & Tot Swim program is a great way to build your child’s water confidence while having lots of fun! For ages 4 to 36 months + 1 adult.

  • Private / Semi-Private Swim Lessons – have your child spend 30 mins one-on-one with an instructor focused on swim skill development. These may also be offered on weekends, if there is sufficient student interest and instructor availability.

PADDLING

We offer a fun paddling program for children aged 5 years and older.  Please note: Children will need a paddle and an appropriate PFD.  For their safety, we prefer children do NOT wear shoes in canoes unless they are tightly fitting water shoes. The paddlers work through a number of levels to learn basic skills. Paddling is part of the Camp Juniper program in the mornings and lessons are available for sign up in the afternoon.

ARTS AND CRAFTS

This class is geared to children aged 4 to 10 years old.  Participants will have the opportunity to try out a variety of different mediums to develop their self-expression.  The primary focus will be fun but we will throw in a little art history and technique building as well. Arts and Crafts is part of the camp program in the mornings and lessons may be available for sign up in the afternoons.

DANCE

New this summer! In response to the enthusiastic feedback we received after last season wrapped up, we’re excited to introduce our summer dance program. This joyful program invites kids to move, imagine, and have fun in a supportive setting, led by experienced teen dancers who look forward to sharing their passion. Through music, play, and creative movement, children build confidence, coordination, and a love of dance – all while making new friends and having a great time.

ROBOTICS

Also new this summer, pending interest and staffing. Based on feedback from families after last season, we’re exploring the addition of a hands-on robotics program for children. This program would introduce problem-solving, creativity, and basic coding concepts through fun, age-appropriate projects. Please note that the robotics program will be offered only if there is sufficient participant interest and qualified instructors available to lead it – final details will be confirmed once those pieces are in place.

COMBOS/ PROGRAMS

Camp Juniper

Camp Juniper, is offered as either a half-day (morning) or full-day program that’s packed with fun and variety for everyone! Campers will enjoy a perfect blend of activities, including swimming, paddling, and creative crafts to spark their imagination. The full-day program also features supervised lunchtime, where participants can bring their own meals or purchase them on-site, ensuring a relaxed and social midday break. To round out the full-day experience, campers can dive into racquet sports like pickleball and tennis, adding a dynamic and energetic twist to their day. Note: registration for the full-day program requires an SLYC membership, in addition to an ASLC membership. Camp Juniper is designed to keep participants engaged, active, and having fun all day long!
